The variety of application forms and processes used by employers means that you need specific knowledge to make your application stand out. Get insider know-how on how applications are assessed and tips to ensure you sell yourself to secure that interview.

This workshop will be focusing on how to successfully write applications concentrating on the Make a Difference Ambassador application, which is designed in the format similar to teaching and PGCE applications.

The Make a Difference ambassador programme offers students the opportunity to enhance their existing skills and student experience while here at Manchester Metropolitan University.

As a Make a Difference Ambassador, you will represent the Faculty of Arts & Humanities, and the University as a whole, at public facing and recruitment events, and engage in other activities which support the work of the Make a Difference project and Student Enrichment Officers.

If you are successfully recruited as a Make a Difference Ambassador, you will have the opportunity to work on any, if not all, of the below projects:

  • Schools Outreach opportunities with local high schools and colleges delivering a variety of projects – ideal if you plan on becoming a teacher!
  • Community Outreach work with local communities on both paid and voluntary opportunities.
  • Manchester Children’s Book Festival offers opportunities to work on events with authors, publishers and partner organisations all year round.
  • Create your own opportunities and build a social enterprise! Funding available for start-up projects.

You will need to be enthusiastic, reliable and enjoy working as part of a team. This type of work is an ideal way to build up your existing skills and enhance your CV. Compulsory and developmental training will be provided as part of the Make a Difference scheme, and all ambassadors are offered an enhanced DBS check free of charge. Work is casual and flexible to fit around your study commitments, and a character reference will be provided at the end of your time with us.
