As a Make a Difference Ambassador you will work with children and potentially vulnerable adults in a variety of settings including schools, youth programmes and community groups.
We ensure that all our ambassadors are competent and confident in carrying out their responsibilities for safeguarding and promoting children’s and young people’s welfare.
This is an introductory course for anyone who works with children or families in their paid or voluntary work, so you don’t need any previous child protection training. By attending this compulsory training session as a Make a Difference Ambassador we aim give you the tools and enhance awareness and encourage good practice in your work. More often than not it is now a requirement for all staff who are working with children or vulnerable adults to undertake a basic level of training concerning child protection.
This classroom based session will cover
- Complexities of Child Protection
- What is child abuse
- Identifying Abuse
- Recognising signs, symptoms and indicators
- Identifying behavioural changes
- Legislation and guidance
- What to do and where to get help if you suspect child abuse
- What happens when there is disclosure
- Sounding the Alarm
Please note that this workshop is ONLY AVAILABLE TO 2016 Make a Difference Ambassadors. We will be recruiting again in January 2017 where this session will once again be repeated to those successful in applying for an Ambassador role.
