The time is upon us! The Manchester Met Summer Ball countdown has begun, the committee is in place, The Midland’s Trafford Suite has been booked, and tickets are now on sale. Get the date in your diary, 26th May 2017, an easy one to remember as it is the last day of exams. It is going to be a truly special event. Tickets can now be booked on line http://bit.ly/MMUSUMMERBALL2017 or you can visit the Finance Office in the Righton Building to buy them directly.
The committee met with the Events Coordinator of The Midland on Monday and in her words, “apart from the carpet and paint, the room remains in its original condition”. The grand Edwardian exterior extends into the reception area, and through to the suite which sits on the ground floor. The vintage setting, with its high ceilings and romantic decorative scrolls, art deco embellishments and sweeping drapes is the perfect venue for a night of celebration. If, like me, you have ever strolled to the AMC cinema to catch a cheap two for one deal and looked into the tall windows of the Midland that the suite looks out from, you will now get to see just what is inside.
On the night you will sit down to a three course dinner and drinks (a complimentary cocktail and half a bottle of wine is included). There will be the perfect opportunity to take photographs in the photo booth, have a dance to the songs you have requested, and get drawn in by all manner of entertainment… as with previous years an after party venue will be organised to allow you to continue on into the night.
Get a group of friends together, be they course mates, flat mates, fellow society members, or people you know from across the University and join us! You finally have that excuse to wear the outfit that is ballroom ready: the tux, the jeweled gown, the tiara! Above all, you get to come and have fun, toast to all the revision done, and gone for one more year.
